The New Hype: Five-Minute EV Charging

BYD is bringing five-minute fast-charging technology and extended driving range to its best-selling electric vehicles, making rapid EV travel more practical in markets worldwide.

“The Denza Z9 GT is the perfect choice to introduce the principle of ‘Ready in 5, Full in 9’ to the world,” said Stella Li, describing the company’s global rollout of its new Flash Charging system.

The upgraded third-generation Yuan Plus, sold internationally as the Atto 3, will offer up to 630 km (391 miles) of range and recharge from 10 to 70 per cent in five minutes using BYD’s new Blade Battery 2.0 and 1,500 kW chargers. The SUV, which sold more than 223,000 units globally in 2025, also includes improved safety systems, optional LiDAR technology and upgraded interior features. BYD is expanding the technology across several models as competition grows in the EV market, with its new Song Ultra EV already securing more than 60,000 pre-orders within a month of launch.
