Fashion Giant Takes Sustainability to the Next Level

Stella McCartney, one of the more eco-friendly luxury fashion houses, is now partnering with Protein Evolution, Inc. (PEI) to recycle textile waste into new fabrics.

“The horrific amount of fast fashion produced that then goes to landfill is truly shocking, both from the natural resources used to the sheer quantity wasted. We must act today to protect our planet for tomorrow, and circular and regenerative solutions offer an optimistic look at the future of fashion,” says fashion designer, Stella McCartney.

Plastic-derived fibers such as polyester and nylon are not strong enough to be recycled more than a few times. However, PEI utilizes a unique enzymatic process that allows for these textiles and other plastic waste to be an “infinitely reusable resource.” The partnership is expected to significantly reduce textile waste within the production chain. Stella McCartney is leading the way in sustainability within the luxury fashion world.
