A German startup has developed a maritime platform that can generate off-grid renewable energy from waves, wind, and solar sources. Its special power: a modular design, offering flexibility unique from other offshore wave energy conversion developments.
“The modular design has been a key element since we started developing maritime technologies that allow flexibility and a wide variety of applications” says Dr Philipp Sinn, CEO of the German startup Sinn Power, to Forbes. “The floating platform can supply renewable energy to islands across the world, for example, and contribute to the worldwide implementation of offshore wind farms.”
The company is based near Munich, Germany with a permanent testing facility in Crete, Greece, where it plans to have solar panel manufacturers test the off-grid energy solution off the Greek coast later this summer.
