Good News: Endangered Species Are Recovering Here!

According to the latest research, many endangered species are recovering in China largely thanks to greater conservation efforts across the country.

One such species is the finless porpoises – also known as a smiling angel. “The number of the finless porpoises here has reached nearly 100, with an annual growth rate of about 8 percent,” explains Xu Chunyong, deputy director of the management office of the Tian’ezhou reserve.

Other endangered species that are also increasing in number in China include the milu deer and Shennongjia golden monkey. Whether it be thanks to limits on pollution, overfishing, and hunting or to the creation of natural reserves and greater disease prevention and control, China has seen a myriad of species recover as of late.
