Manufacturer to Trial 100% Emission-Free Transportation

A new emissions-free train will be trialed next year by German manufacturer Siemens with routes up to 1,000 km on tracks without overhead power cables.

Currently, trains that cover long distances without overhead power lines rely on diesel engines, releasing harmful gasses and emissions into the atmosphere.

Michael Peter, head of Siemens Mobility states, “We have the tools in our hands in transportation to reduce emissions to zero, and then you cannot just talk about the cheapest operating cost. You have to talk about the cost of allowing CO2 into the atmosphere which is gigantic.”

The new trains would be 100% green, making a significant positive contribution to the environment within the transportation industry. What’s more, these trains are expected to have a long lifespan of roughly 40 years and will also be recyclable, all of which will help humanity in the race against climate change.
