British bands have been stepping up to do what they can for the environment. Coldplay, for example, won’t be touring to promote its new album, and Massive Attack is urging the music industry to work together on planning greener concerts.
Together with climate scientists from the University of Manchester in England, Massive Attack has an ambitious goal to reduce the environmental impact of live music shows. They will use next year’s tour to find useful ways to reduce their carbon footprint.
“Any actions we take in isolation will prove to be too ineffective unless our sector, our industry, moves together,” says the “concerned and preoccupied” band, urging other performers to help cut their carbon footprint as well. “The entertainment industry must play its part.”
