Climate leaders from the Middle East and North Africa are joining hands in the fight to reduce their emission levels by 2030, and to ensure active progress on their climate ambitions.
“Accelerating climate action is both necessary and a huge opportunity,” says Sultan Ahmad Al Jaber, the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology in the United Arab Emirates and the nation’s special envoy for climate change. “We can maximize our contribution, leverage the latest technologies, and focus smart investment to ensure truly sustainable development that facilitates economic growth.”
The delegates at the UAE Regional Dialogue for Climate Action have mutually agreed to ensure the success of the Paris Agreement, and even go further with their environmental goals. They plan on mobilizing investment in a new energy economy that includes emerging solutions, carbon capture, and new zero-carbon energy sources.
