One in five cars that come out of the production line in Germany is electric, and as of March 2021, the country produced a record total of 74,000 plug-in vehicles.
For the fifth consecutive month, the production of plug-in vehicles from Europe’s largest economy is exceeding its total market by 15%. The total electric cars produced include battery-electric and plug-in hybrids.
Each year, Germany produces between five and six million cars, and come the end of 2021, close to a million of them should be electric vehicles. Daimler, Volkswagen Group, and BMW are the largest German car manufacturers, and Volks is the world’s third-biggest maker of electric cars, behind Tesla and Renault-Nissan.
