Pop-Up Clinics Provide Relief to War-Torn Country

Over the past two years, 29 modular clinics have been set up across Ukraine, providing essential care to 50,000 patients despite the ongoing challenges of the war.

“Modular clinics are crucial in providing life-saving medical services in regions where the infrastructure has been severely affected,” explains Marianna Franco, Head of the European Union Humanitarian Aid office in Ukraine.

In 2024, 12 pop-up clinics were installed across various regions in Ukraine, working alongside 17 other modular ones set up back in 2023. The project – implemented by the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health alongside financial support from the European Union – was created to ensure continued health-care access despite wartime challenges. The clinics can serve as essential primary health-care services and emergency medical care, and are all equipped with generators for uninterrupted energy supply in power outages. These modular clinics can be installed in roughly 10 to 14 days and last up to ten years.
