Society SwedenSharing Workers Could Help Businesses Survive During Corona Lockdown
Companies in Sweden are helping each other during the coronavirus lockdown – with those thriving borrowing staff from others in sectors that are struggling amid the outbreak.
With online delivery services, pharmacies and supermarkets in need for more staff and tourism, hotels, and restaurants struggling to pay wages, economists say sharing workers during the outbreak could be a solution to helping businesses survive.
“In this way, we can cater to the needs of both the firms that right now need extra labour, and those that do not,” says Swedish labor expert Patrik Karlsson.
Hotels and local businesses are already lending their staff to pharmacies and supermarkets. One pharmacy in particular, Apotea, has borrowed 40 new staff in this way, with a plan to increase the number to 100.
