According to team at University College London, more people in the UK have quit smoking in the first six months of this year than in any other year since their study first kicked off in 2007.
Another survey by the Action on Smoking and Health charity also shows that over a million people have given up smoking since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
41% of the smokers who quit have said COVID-19 was the main reason they quit, as the government warns that smokers could undergo more severe symptoms of the virus.
