Society BoliviaBolivia’s Communities Welcome New Jobs and Roads in Blossoming Society
Bolivia, the second-poorest nation in South America, has seen many improvements over the past decade: middle-class communities in urban and rural towns are being offered more local job opportunities, upgraded infrastructure and running water in homes, to name a few.
Locals in Sahuiña – a remote village that prides itself in freedom and independence – have been welcoming new paved roads that make it easier to transport goods as well as drive children to school. Where they used to draw water from wells, they now have running water in their homes. A new airport and a small hospitality facility are also being built near the village, making it more accessible to tourists.
Above all, the country’s majority-indigenous population has been living above the poverty line for the very first time and benefiting from Bolivia’s natural resources.
