Clearing Hidden Dangers, Saving Lives Across Conflict Zones

Saudi Arabia is funding large-scale mine-clearance efforts that are making land safer and restoring communities across multiple conflict-affected regions.

“These humanitarian initiatives aim to protect civilians and ease the suffering caused by conflict,” said the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.

Through projects in Yemen, Iraq and Azerbaijan, more than $294 million has been invested in removing landmines and unexploded devices. The flagship Masam program operates in Yemen, where it has removed more than 550,000 landmines and explosive devices and cleared nearly 78 million square meters of land since 2018. Additional projects in Iraq and Azerbaijan support survey and clearance efforts. Alongside this work, nearly 92,000 people have received prosthetics and rehabilitation support, helping communities recover, move safely again and rebuild everyday life.
