Animals BorneoYoung Orangutans Now Attend Jungle School to Get Ready for the Wild
In central Kalimantan, Borneo, live caretakers and teachers of one of the most unusual schools in the world: Nyaru Menteng, where orphan orangutans are taught how to survive in the wild.
The youngest of the orphan orangutans start at the nursery school, where they cuddle together in baskets, wear diapers for the same reason human babies do, and are cared for by their surrogate human mothers.
As they get older, the orangutan jungle school will train the orphans with the survival skills they need to help them return to the wild, where they belong.
