Communities across the United Kingdom have been looking into innovative ways to help each other during the nationwide lockdown caused by the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Tens of thousands of volunteers across the country are offering to pick up shopping or deliver medicine to those in need, notes the BBC, and shops have adjusted their hours for the elderly and those most at risk from the virus.

Bars, cafes and restaurants are also receiving support while forced to close during the confinement, with voucher schemes allowing people to pay in advance for meals they can have once the crisis has ended.
