Fascinating Discoveries Were Made in 2021

Professional and amateur archaeologists alike have revealed fascinating findings – that have either been identified recently or unearthed years ago yet documented in 2021 – helping us better understand our common history.

A work on paper from Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, a dress worn by Judy Garland in 1939’s The Wizard of Oz, a Roman mosaic on British ground, and the site of the onetime home of American abolitionist and political activist Harriet Tubman are amongst the surprising findings made in 2021.

On top of this, missing masterpieces, ancient art pieces, warfare artifacts, shipwrecks, and royal history items have been uncovered. Throughout the year, elements from prehistoric peoples have sprung up, as well as relics from religious history. New information related to African American and Indigenous North American history have also come to light this year. These findings can not only help us better understand our past, but also in turn better navigate our future.
