Green Vehicle Sales Expected to Double… Again!

The popularity of greener and cleaner vehicles doesn’t seem to wane: the number of electric cars sold across China is expected to double before the end of 2022, as it did last year.

This year, one in five new cars sold is expected to be of new-energy vehicles, be it electric, plug-in hybrids, or fuel-cell autos.

According to the China Passenger Car Association, sales of renewable-powered vehicles are expected to reach 6 million by the end of 2022, twice the sales made in 2021. A likely reason for such a surge: government subsidies – offered for the past 12 years – are now being phased out, encouraging citizens to take the plunge of going green now, while the offers still stand.
