It’s a Go for Five Big Nature Recovery Projects!

Five large-scale nature recovery projects have been greenlit across England, United Kingdom, to curb wildlife loss and climate change, boost local economies, and increase public access to nature.

“[The nature recovery schemes] will significantly contribute to achieving our target to halt the decline in species abundance by 2030 and our commitment to protect 30% of our land by 2030, enabling us to leave the environment in a better state than we found it,” says environment minister Rebecca Pow.

A total of 245,000 acres will be added to existing nature reserves in the West Midlands, Cambridgeshire, the Peak District, Norfolk, and Somerset. The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and Natural England will grant $3 million to the five landscape-scale projects to create new habitats, manage land for nature and carbon storage, and increase footpaths that are connected to communities.
