Health The WorldMeasles Cases Fall Sharply Across These Regions
Measles infections dropped significantly across Europe and Central Asia, with reported cases falling by 75% after expanded vaccination and outbreak response efforts strengthened public health protection.
“Until all children are reached with vaccination, children will remain at risk of serious illness,” said Regina De Dominicis, regional director for UNICEF Europe and Central Asia.
Fifty-three countries reported 33,998 measles cases in 2025, down from 127,412 the year before, reflecting improved immunisation and surveillance efforts. However, health agencies emphasise that maintaining at least 95% vaccination coverage remains essential to prevent future outbreaks.
