Food Sci-Fi Comes True as Company Makes Meat Without Harming Any Animals (Or the Planet)

A startup in the Netherlands is unveiling an environmentally-friendly pork prototype that’s been grown in a laboratory without harming any animals – and without damaging the planet!

The company, Meatable, will reveal its prototype this summer. According to CEO Krijn de Nood, the pork will be made from cultured animal cells without harming any animals, and is catered to customers who like meat but are becoming increasingly uneasy with the way it’s produced.

“We’re trying to help solve some of the world’s biggest challenges… we do not just want to make one or two hamburgers, we want to change the world,” says de Nood.

Thanks to technology established by scientists from Stanford University and Cambridge University in the UK, the company can produce stacks of cells to make meat in days or weeks, it says, instead of months.
