Health USAIf You Are in Mental Trouble, We Will Pay Your Therapist, Bosses Say
Within the next month, all Starbucks employees across the U.S., as well as their family members, will have access to 20 therapy sessions a year, after employees voiced their need for more emotional support.
The Seattle-based coffee retailer is working on expanding its mental health benefits by partnering with Lyra Health to connect employees – which Starbucks refers to as partners – with coaches and therapists through a mobile app.
“Partners were saying that there’s more we could do as a company to help them around the topic of mental health and well being,” says Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson to Fast Company. “As a leadership team, we said, ‘Let’s figure out what we can do.’”
The mental health program will launch on April 6.
