Being a journalist and a filmmaker I recently did research about elder people and loneliness. Accidentally I met Marie-Luise Jordan who is 90 years old – and all the opposite of a lonely woman.

After studying International Relations for three and half years, gaining work experience in the education industry and hospitality industry, and with everything going on with the pandemic, I realized my passion was to help people especially the people of Indonesia.

What makes my life better? This week it was lunch with my friend Ines. We know each other for 15 years, but don’t meet very often. As we share the same profession, we usually talk about business topics.

I live in an apartment building where the relationships with neighbors are pleasant but not very frequent. As in many big cities, the inhabitants have a busy life between jobs and other challenges. Usually, we meet for a brief chat between the hallway and the garbage…

When we were all still in lockdown this summer, like so many of you, I spent more time than usual surfing through the internet and social media pages. A friend invited me to join a Facebook group called ‘View from my window’ which I found fascinating.

As a freelance violinist in Munich normally I would spend this year doing public concerts internationally. Since the coronavirus, all jobs were cancelled. Nevertheless, with a team of five artist friends, we have decided: We are creatives – let’s get creative and don’t await help.

Impressed by the Prince of Wales’ engagement in philanthropy, I recently discovered Dumfries House, an 18th-century estate in Scotland with beautiful gardens which are open to the public.

We Lebanese people were grieving and thinking why did this terrible thing happen and how can we help our people after the explosion of July 4th that rocked the city of Beirut and our country Lebanon.

What a crazy corona summer!! The pandemic broke out just when my family was happily on vacation. Quite a shock when we learned we could not travel back to our home in Dubai as borders were closed overnight.
