Hooray for Animals in Poland: No More Fur Farming!

The government of Poland has decided to put an end to fur farming, the ritual slaughter (without stunning) for exports, and the use of wild animals in circuses. The law will come into force in a year, and close to 5 million animals will be saved.

“The movement of animal lovers has the wind at its back,” says Olga Kikou, Head of Compassion in World Farming EU. “The domino effect has taken over yet another European country, resolved to fix humankind’s sad history of mistreating animals. We very much hope that the EU will soon get up to speed with the modern times and give animals a better life. Congratulations to Warsaw! Brussels, now it’s over to you.”

Animal rights are gaining momentum: the Czech Republic and Slovakia banned cages for laying hens, and Germany decided to ban crates for pregnant sows.
