Clean Water for Everyone in the Country? Challenge Accepted!

As part of India’s mission to ensure water supply for every rural household by 2024, around 51 million homes have gained access to drinkable tap water over the last two years.

In 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his government’s desire to deliver drinking water to remote households throughout the country, with a five-year plan to turn the project into reality.

Since the launch of the project, 51 million households got access to clean water, which accounts for 27% of all rural households deprived of a potable water connection. The Jal Jeevan mission aims at providing water to the remaining 73% of countryside homes – or 138 million – by 2024.
