Eyelashes from Mink Furs? Never Again, Promises Big Cosmetics Company

Following a PETA campaign that condemned the poor treatment of caged animals in fur farms and emails from more than 280,000 concerned customers, Sephora has vowed to stop selling false eyelashes made from mink fur.

“There’s no difference between a mink coat and mink eyelashes when it comes to animal suffering,” says Tracy Reiman, PETA’s executive vice president. “PETA is celebrating Sephora’s decision to join Tarte, Too Faced, Urban Decay, and the scores of other brands that know that there’s nothing beautiful about stealing an animal’s fur.”

Sephora has confirmed that as of 2020, mink eyelashes are being phased out of its stock, adding that the stores will no longer carry mink-based eyelashes. From now on, only synthetic or faux-fur ones will hit the shelf.
