Environment PakistanProtecting Nature: New Law Ensures a Greener Future
By signing a conservation act into law, Pakistan is successfully protecting the environment, wildlife, and natural resources in the Islamabad Capital Territory.
“This legislation marks a significant milestone in safeguarding Islamabad’s natural heritage,” states the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB). “[We are] committed to working tirelessly towards conservation and environmental stewardship, ensuring the effective implementation of the Act.”
Now that the Islamabad Nature Conservation and Wildlife Management Act 2024 is officially signed into law, the IWMB can carry out its functions, thus ensuring that Islamabad’s natural resources and unique biodiversity are well preserved and managed. This landmark legislation favours the promotion of a healthy environment for future generations. Realistic fines and penalties will be applied to ensure accountability and environmental protection. “The internal revenue generation proposed in the Act for the management of Margalla Hills National Park will enable the IWMB to manage the park’s resources sustainably, ensuring the long-term conservation of this vital ecosystem.”
