Say Hello to the US Navy’s First Black Female Fighter Pilot!

The US Navy has graduated its very first black female fighter pilot upon her completion of the Tactical Air Strike (TACAIR) aviator syllabus.

“Madeline Swegle is the @USNavy’s first known Black female TACAIR pilot and will receive her Wings of Gold later this month,” praises the Chief of Naval Air Training in a tweet. “HOOYAH!”

As a result of her graduation, Lieutenant (junior grade) Swegle is now moving on from training aircrafts to Navy tactical planes. Her historic achievement comes as Navy leaders work hard to “identify and remove racial barriers and improve inclusion within our Navy”.
