Very Small Online Businesses Help Us All to Get Through Crisis

According to a study from the American web-hosting company GoDaddy, online micro-businesses play an important role in the economy – a role that might even soften the blow of the recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is an effort to try and understand the impact of what we call an everyday entrepreneur in our nation’s economy,” says Jeremy Hartman, VP of Venture Forward, a program initiated by GoDaddy. “These are people who do everything from selling candlesticks from their home to renting out excess capacity [when not using] their vehicles.”

In the United States, around 20 million projects were set up in the last three years. Some businesses are too small to appear in the government lists of small businesses, so the Venture Forward program aims to help elected officials to better understand and support micro-businesses as they play a key role not only to the economy, but also to the people and the community.
