Three Hives on Office Roof are Home to 150,000 Bees

I was happy to learn about an initiative, which is good news for the bee population in France, where nearly 30% of bee colonies disappear each year, because of pesticides, pollution and new predators like the Asian hornet.

A European consultancy firm, based in Paris, has installed three hives on their office roof-top: home for 150,000 bees! Eurogroup Consulting has been taking care of the hives for over five years, as part of their commitment to ecological sustainability, knowing that urban beekeeping is necessary for strengthening bee populations.

The collaborators also appreciate the social dimension of the project, because this adventure creates great opportunities to meet and help each other and to get involved in local life. Every year, the honey harvest brings together many people in the cafeteria. During Happy Hour, everybody can observe the local partner and beekeeper extract the honey from the frames, and discuss and taste the honey.
