Good start for a freshman at university- at 91 years old!

Recently, I learned that I am the eldest university student in Germany. Wow! I am 91 years old and study at the Philipps-University of Marburg. I’m in my 14th term, studying German and European history.

It’s just incredible, a great pleasure. I come from a very poor family; financially, it wasn’t possible to go to high school in the past. I had loved to study medicine.

I made my life after nine years of elementary school, starting from scratch. Many years later, I worked as a manager in department stores until I retired. Then, after my retirement, I was occupied for a couple of years with my wife in need of care until she died. Now, going to the university about once a week is my passion, and my self-discipline drives me to go to the university regularly. My co-students and everybody at the university are adorable. My lust for knowledge and my curiosity are unbroken. It is a great gift to be able to go to university. I can recommend everyone: Study! Learn! There is always time to enrich your brain at any age.
