Historic Resolution Puts a Stop to Ritualistic Killings

The end has begun for ritualistic killings across Africa – a witchcraft-related tradition that targets the most vulnerable – thanks to an unanimously approved United Nations resolution proposed by Kenya.

The resolution was submitted by Kenya and a group of 54 African member states at the UN Human Rights Council.

In the name of witchcraft, hundreds of people are sacrificed, a clear violation of Article 2 – Right to Life – of the Human Rights Act. Children, women, widows, the elderly, and disabled people are among the most frequent targets, and especially people with albinism.
