Uniting Global Efforts, to Help Restore Ecosytems

Thanks to The Restoration Initiative (TRI), significant progress is being made worldwide in ecosystem restoration and sustainable land management.

“TRI represents a critical step forward in our global efforts to combat biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation. By employing science-based strategies and fostering community involvement, TRI is creating resilient ecosystems that can withstand the challenges of climate change,” says Professor Lu Zhi, Executive Director, Peking University Center for Nature and Society and UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration Advisory Board member.

Founded in 2018, TRI has united projects across nine countries and collaborated with three global environmental agencies to restore degraded landscapes. So far, 355,672 hectares of land have been restored, and 715,164 hectares have been placed under sustainable management. Millions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions have been mitigated, and over 62 policies have been implemented to support forest restoration across various countries. The impact of just one organization shows how global collaboration could make way for a much brighter future for all.
